Our Background

Macias Gini & O'Connell LLP (MGO) is a statewide public accounting and consulting firm, headquartered in Sacramento, California with office locations spanning the Golden State – Oakland, Walnut Creek, Los Angeles and San Diego. The firm was established in 1987 and, at that time, principally focused on serving the public sector industry area. Today, the firm employs over 150 professionals and continues to serve governmental entities at the federal, state and local levels. 

Emergence of Corporate Services Group

Since its inception, the firm has evolved and leveraged its strength serving large, complex and highly regulated governmental entities. Through these efforts and our strategic alliance with global leader BDO Seidman LLP, we have developed the MGO Corporate Services Group (CSG). The CSG serves a diverse client base in a variety of industries including real estate, technology, manufacturing, broadcast media, life sciences and financial services.

In this 20th anniversary year, MGO professionals feel a tremendous sense of pride when reflecting on the clients we serve. From humble beginnings, the firm now boasts an impressive client roster that includes: a variety of multi-national companies with overseas operations, one of the most influential institutional investors on Wall Street - CalPERS - with over $250 billion in assets, and even San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge - an international icon.

Many of MGO's partners, directors and managers enjoyed extraordinary success while growing up in the Big 4 accounting firms. This diversity of experience coupled with the firm's relentless focus on attracting and developing top talent has helped to earn MGO national recognition for thought leadership from both the profession and industry regulators.
